Itinerary
Day 1 – Meet your fellow “cowboys
and cowgirls” at a wine and cheese reception at our hotel, The
Westin Calgary, the pulse of the Stampede. Wander the streets and feel
the excitement before meeting for our welcome dinner, a gastronomic
feast of western Canadian specialties such as Alberta beef or on the
wild side buffalo, elk or wild boar.
Day 2 – Grab your cowboy hat as the Chamber of
Commerce welcomes us for our first Stampede breakfast. Delight in watching
the Calgary Stampede parade from our premium seats at the start of the
parade route. Following the parade, we are privy to a tour at the Alberta
Boot Company, whose craftsman have made boots for celebrities and Royalty
alike. Lunch is on your own and we meet up later for the Stampede.
Day 3 - Imagine yourself in pre-historic times as we
take a tour of the world-class Royal Tyrrell Dinosaur Museum in Drumheller,
Alberta. Stomp on grounds trod upon by the world’s largest creatures,
which roamed this spot more than 65 million years ago. View the world’s
largest exhibit of dinosaur skeletons is the main attraction in the
Dinosaur Hall. Later put on your cowboy boots, grab your partner and
get ready to do some two-stepping as we join the locals for a foot-stomping
good time at a cowboy hangout.
Day 4 - Gaze at the spectacular Canadian Rockies from
the Calgary Tower’s Revolving Panorama Dining Room, 525 feet above
the city of Calgary. A short walk takes us to our private tour of the
Glenbow Museum. The rest of the day is yours to explore Calgary and
the Stampede. Visit some of the unique shops, sit at an outdoor cafe
or take in the Casino.
Day 5 - Saddle up cowpokes we’re
on our way to the Canadian Rockies. First stop, the Columbia Icefield,
a river of ice frozen thousands of years ago. Experience time gone by
as you drive on the ice and feel the centuries beneath you. The evening
is yours to stroll the quaint town of Banff and at your leisure relax
in the healing waters of Banff Upper Hot Springs on Sulfur Mountain.
Day 6 - Breath-taking views are yours as we take you
to Lake Louise; with a spectacular view of picture perfect Victoria
Glacier. Visit Moraine Lake and the Valley of the Ten Peaks. Lunch is
on your own in Banff. We meet after lunch and journey to the top of
the world and look down on creation as we experience the gondola at
Sulfur Mountain for a new twist on our views. Dinner tonight is with
the group at the Grizzly House rustic restaurant in Banff where fondue
specialties include beef, pork and wild game.
